Tourism is both the largest economic activity in the world, and the world's largest industry. Europe is still the most popular destination for international visitors, a trend which is set to continue. Spatial planning policies aim to integrate the development of tourism harmoniously into other aspects of the territory by establishing limits and maintaining the quality of the environment.
