15th ESIL/SEDI Conference - Sovereignty: a concept in flux?

The Council of Europe will present its activities and publications at the 15th European Society of International Law (ESIL/SEDI) Conference, whose theme this year is “Sovereignty: A concept in flux?”. This year’s annual event will take place in Athens, Greece, from 12 to 14 September. There will be 90 speakers from more than 30 countries including: judges from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR); members of the International Law Commission (ILC) and the UN treaty bodies; national supreme court justices and legal advisors to international organisations and ministries of foreign affairs; distinguished academics from research institutions of world renown and from more than 50 universities worldwide; eminent practitioners from leading law firms; and a host of promising young scholars debating the future in 14 ESIL Interest Groups.
ESIL is a European network set up to bring together people working in the field of international law. It aims to foster deeper understanding among members, be they government officials, diplomats, legal advisers in international organisations, academics or practising lawyers.
