Protecting those who defend our rights
In response to growing threats to the profession, the Council of Europe has adopted a convention to guarantee the independence and security of lawyers, who are essential pillars of the rule of law and access to justice. It addresses entitlement to practise, professional rights, freedom of expression, professional discipline and specific protective measures for lawyers and professional associations.
