Constitutional courts now play a major role in guaranteeing human rights and the proper functioning of a democracy. This UniDem seminar in Bucharest, which was attended by representatives of twenty-one constitutional courts and by academics, considered the role and competences of constitutional courts, their organisation, operation and practice, their decisions and the effects of their decisions, as well as their relations with the ordinary courts and other public authorities.
