This book analyses systems of collection and use of blood throughout Europe.It describes in layman's terms the current situation.It investigates the efforts made by the international community to acquire sufficient and reliable stocks of blood and blood products.It tries also to evaluate the importance for quality assurance of non-remunerated donations and the principle of non-commercialism. Finally, it examines what progress has been made and the obstacles that still remain.
